Take me back to the Windy City

Hi everyone!!! This past few days I’ve been busy doing Christmas shopping. This will be the first time I celebrate in Wisconsin, last Christmas we spent it in New York (it was our honeymoon too!).

I didn’t forget I promised to tell you about my Thanksgiving weekend in Chicago!! We spent Thanksgiving at home and went Black Friday shopping. We hit Old Navy’s, Target and Walmart. On Saturday we drove to Chicago and met my sister-in-law and her husband, which was a great idea!!!

We first stopped atShake Shack (it recently opened in Chicago). The place was packed! We waited in line outside on the curb to get in, the line went almost around the block but it moved pretty fast, although finding a table was more challenging, thankfully my sister in-law found one (more like fought for one 😂) right before our food was ready. I ordered a single SmokeShack and a vanilla shake, both where amazing!!! I didn’t notice the burger had a spicy sauce until my first bite and even though I’m not a spicy lover, I really liked it. I was bummed that I didn’t order a double instead, I wanted more!!!!

Once we finished we went to The Art Institute of Chicago, the atmosphere was captivating, at first we got lost inside but then I turned on my human GPS skills 😂 and took the two hour tour, which included 12 of the best and brightest exhibitions of the Art Institute’s Collection.

What a beautiful day!!

Since we where in Millennium Park, we made a stop to see The Cloud Gate, more known as “The Bean”. It wasn’t my first time in Chicago, but God knows why I haven’t visited this sculpture before. Not only it was beautiful but we had a blast taking pictures!!

You, Me and The Bean

We couldn’t leave Chicago without seeing some Christmas Lights, so we visited the Lincoln Park ” Zoolights”. The strings of lights and bright displays were beautiful and being in the zoo after dark made it more interesting. It was really something special, the best part: FREE ADMISSION.

It's not the best pic but I needed to show you some of lights

All the touring got us hungry, so we had dinner at Avec. Food was amazing, seriously, AMAZING. We waited no more than 20 minutes to be seated, keep in mind that you share a table with other people, which was perfectly fine for us, and you HAVE to share the food with your party, we learned that the hard way, because our waitress was in complete shock (and a little rude) when each couple wanted to order their own plates.

This skyline's on fireeeee!! 🎼

Chicago is a beautiful city, full of life, culture and entertainment. If you decide to visit (You must!!), be sure to plan ahead, there’s so much to do, you’ll really want to squeeze every second you’re there.

I hope y’all have a great week!!

From Disney with love

As you remember I was in Orlando trying to enjoy the weather, but mother nature had a different plan. I only got one day of sunshine, after that it was chilly and rainy, all that crazy weather got me sick (that’s why I haven’t posted in two weeks) but it didn’t stop me from going to Disney, heell no!

I love Disney!!! It’s such a magical place and as cheesy as it may sound, I do believe dreams come true there. I went with my brother Alfonso and my sister Angela.

Our first stop was Animal Kingdom, if you’re going to Disney only for the day as we did (yeah we’re crazy people), be sure to visit this park first because it closes earlier than the others. My favorite show is “Festival of The Lion King” don’t ask me why, but I always cry on it.

Take me back!!!

Animal Kingdom wouldn’t be completed without a Safari right?, one word: breathtaking. My mouth was open the whole ride, and it wasn’t my first time there, what can I say, Disney magic… never gets old.

I’d love to upload all the pictures but there are so many!!! Let me know if you want more and I promise I’ll do an entire picture post about Disney.

I tried taking a picture "holding" the ball... It wasn't pretty

Second stop Epcot, yes I said Epcot, I know a lot of people underestimate this park but it has some really cool attractions. Our favorite is Mission: Space, believe me when I said it’s out of this world. We also got on The Sum of all Thrills, you design your own virtual rollercoaster. I did mine with my brother, obviously it was full of twists, ups and downs, we named it “TurboScreamer” (read it with special effects voice).

Behold the TurboScreamer!!!!

I have a little of motion sickness so I got out of Epcot with some nausea… Totally worth it. By the time we arrived to Disney Hollywood Studios I was starving and nothing calms a hungry stomach like a turkey leg. Good Lord those turkey legs!!! You can see our overexcited faces.

Nom nom nom!!! I love you guys... the turkey legs not my siblings 😂 just kidding!!

After that we got in the Rock n’ Roller coaster and The Twilight Zone Tower… Yes I got nauseous again.

Love the old Hollywood vibe

We saved Magic Kingdom for last so we could see the fireworks… bad idea, the park was closed for a special Christmas event, but you know, I was so happy with our day so far that it didn’t matter, also it wasn’t my first time on Disney, otherwise I would’ve cried like a baby.

Santa Claus is coming to town!! I arranged the vases!!

I love Orlando but most of all I love my family and I missed them so much, it was amazing seeing them, putting up their Christmas decorations and hugging mommy and daddy. My fly home was tired and delayed, thank you snow storm!!

Despite the snow it feels good being home

Well that was the end of my trip… Or not!! I went to Chicago the weekend of Thanksgiving and of course I got some pretty pictures for you guys, I’ll tell you all about it on the next post (promise it won’t take two weeks). See ya!!

Let me be happy!!

Just to recap I’m in Orlando visiting my parents, enjoying the weather… NOT!! It’s been really cold these past few days, not as cold as Wisconsin but definitely not what I had in mind when I packed my bag. My swimsuit is sad =(

My hubby is having a bad time

Don’t worry I’m having a great time though. A couple of nights ago, I went to International Dr with my family, it’s a stretch between Universal Orlando Resort and Seaworld, it was full of nightlife and entertainment.

Perfect for a nightout!!

One of the attractions that got my attention was WonderWorks, an amusement park that it’s upsidedown, we couldn’t get in but if you are in town be sure to visit it.

Not a perfect picture but you get the idea =D

So I promised you a recipe for the best BBQ ribs I’ve had in my life, this one is from iowagirleats (love her blog), be prepared to be amazed.

Serves 2-3

2 – 2-1/2lbs baby back ribs (could use spare ribs)
1/4 – 1/3 cup BBQ sauce

For the spice rub:
2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon cumin
1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper

Mix spices together in a small bowl then rub into both sides of the ribs, wrap in saran wrap, and then refrigerate for at least 2 hours or up to overnight. Preheat oven to 250 degrees then line a baking sheet with foil and spray with nonstick spray. Place ribs on top then cover tightly with more foil and bake for 3-1/2 hours. Remove foil, drain any excess liquid from the pan, and then brush BBQ sauce on top and bake for 30 more minutes, or until top is slightly caramelized. Tip: If using a larger rack of ribs, add 30 minutes baking time per pound past 2-1/2lbs.

Don't you think they look awesome!!!!

So that’s how mine looked like, they tasted even better. I used Sweet Baby Ray’s Hickory & Brown Sugar Barbeque Sauce and less cayenne pepper, because I don’t like them to spicy but feel free to use as much as your mouth allows you.

My husband's favorite!!!

Tomorrow I’m going to Disney!!!!!! Yayyy =D I’m so excited, I’ve been there a lot of times and never get tired of it. I’ll take tons of pictures to show you, pinky promise!!! (Wow this post has a lot of exclamation points)

Have a nice weekend!!! (Hopefully a warm one)

Hello Orlando!!!

While Wisconsin is freezing and buried in snow, I’m enjoying the warm and perfect weather of Florida!! I forgot what was like to go out without a sweater on.
So far this trip has been awesome, the airline played “Frozen” on my flight which was a WIN!! My mom received me with a lobster ceviche, DOUBLE WIN, and I got new shoes!!! What else can I ask for? (besides Mickey Mouse)

Aren't they cute? The cost around $12 in Ross

Since I watched “Chef” with my husband, we got obsessed with trying an authentic Cuban sandwich, so I yelped (not a real word I know) Best Cuban Sandwich and found a dinner called ZAZA. Flavor wise the sandwich was good, not sure if I’d recommend it, first it didn’t have enough pork and second it wasn’t pressed, maybe I’m being too picky considering I’m comparing it to something I saw on a movie but what can I say, I expected more. The place had Latin music on and nice Cuban vibe, nothing much fancy, it’s a dinner after all.

I’ll be posting more about this trip and a recipe for the best baked BBQ ribs next week.

Have a nice weekend!!!
